Legend in skin care: Vitamin C

We are talking about the Holy Grail, the best multitasker that reduces many imperfections of the skin. Vitamin C is an ingredient in many products as an anti-inflammatory antioxidant, which improves the tone and texture of the skin, moisturizes it and smooth out fine wrinkles. We recommend eating fruits, vegetables and tablets, but there is nothing better for the skin than topical application of vitamin C in a serum or oil, where it is present in sufficient concentration.

Vitamin C and its derivatives

Cosmetic products may contain various derivatives of vitamin C. The most effective and commonly used form is ascorbic acid, which is best applied in a serum to adequately cleansed skin. Always make sure that the concentration of vitamin C in the product matches your skin type. More sensitive skin will tolerate the less concentrated vitamin C or its derivatives. The versatility of vitamin C is enhanced by the fact that it can be combined with other products and ingredients. When combined with Centella Asiatica, it increases collagen production, when combined with vitamin E, it increases protection against free radicals, etc. It is suitable for dry, oily and combination skin and helps it look and feel healthier and younger.

Advantages of vitamin C

It increases the production of collagen, improving the elasticity of the skin. Collagen is a building block of skin, hair, muscles and tendons and keeps our skin youthful and smooth. With age, the production slows down.

It helps in faster wound healing.

Hydrates the skin. Without adequate moisture, the top layer begins to dry out, causing itching and premature aging of the skin. Moisture is essential for maintaining healthy skin and skin barrier.

Visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Brightens the skin and provides more even skin tone.

Reduces the appearance of dark spots, regularly helps with hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C does not affect the colour of the skin - it does not damage the pigmentation of the skin, only protects the skin from melanin damage.

Its antioxidant function protects against free radicals, UV radiation and smog. The antioxidant properties of vitamin C make the skin supple, resistant and help to hide the blood vessels under the skin.

It helps to reduce and prevent dark circles under the eyes, because it strengthens the fine skin under the eyes.

The serum is the best choice

Vitamin C is best applied to the skin in the form of skin serums. Serums are more concentrated than creams and are more easily absorbed by the skin. Even at a low concentration (say 1%) of vitamin C, they provide antioxidant protection and benefits to the skin. Your routine should look like this: Cleanser, toner, vitamin C serum, moisturizer/face oil, SPF. For best results, use the vitamin C serum daily. If you find that your skin is sensitive to daily use, start on the second day of each week and then continue as tolerated.

When you buy vitamin C, look for dark bottles. Vitamin C breaks down when exposed to light or air, so dark glass preserves its shelf life and stability. Oxidation in light and air converts it to DHAA (dehydroascorbic acid), which reduces the effectiveness of vitamin C and usually changes the colour of the serum from translucent to yellow.
